Walking Groups

Members are welcome to join the most appropriate group, subject to any restriction on numbers. There is a Risk Assessment Checklist for use by walk leaders as they plan their walks.

Your Group Leader might keep your ICE (In Case of Emergency) details, but you should not necessarily rely on this. You should carry your ICE card with you on all U3A walks so that someone can be contacted on your behalf if it becomes necessary.

Most years, there is also a walking holiday arranged during the summer months. See the Holidays  page for further details.

Longer Distance Walking Group

This group is for longer distance walkers seeking more challenge, and over recent years has focused on walking sequential linear routes of around 9 to 12 miles on established regional and national routes within relatively easy reach of Haddenham. These have included the Ridgeway, the Thames Path and the Chiltern Way. Members take it in turns to organise and lead walks. We always try to plan for a lunchtime break at a suitable pub or restaurant. Private minibus transport to and from each walk is generally used and this can limit the group size to 16, unless supplementary arrangements can be made. For this reason, no more new members are currently being accepted. Please contact the Group Leader for more information.
